Quality

The proof is the record.

Heat treatment cannot be seen in a finished part. So every charge is logged, every lot is sampled, and nothing leaves until 12 release checks pass and the report is signed.

Release

12 release checks before a report is released.

A check that could not run has not passed. If a quench time was never recorded, the lot waits until it is.

The same checks run in our production system for every lot.

Documented system

Planned before the first part goes in.

  • Process flow diagram for each part and process.
  • PFMEA identifying what can go wrong in each operation and how it is prevented or caught.
  • Control plan listing what is measured, how often and against what limit.
  • Jigging work instructions so a part is loaded the same way every charge.
  • Process inspection record for each lot, operation by operation.
  • Process monitoring sheet and daily work management review on the floor.
  • Inward, in-process and final inspection tags that travel with the lot.
  • Test report signed before despatch.

Test report

What a STEP test report tells you.

An illustrative report: layout and values show what is recorded, not a real part.

  1. Surface hardnessReadings on samples drawn to the sampling plan, against the band on your drawing.
  2. Case depthA sectioned sample traversed with the Micro Vickers. Effective case depth is where hardness falls to the limit.
  3. Core hardnessMeasured on the section, away from the case.

Aerospace readiness

What is in place, and what is not claimed.

We are AS9100D certified, the aerospace quality management standard, which includes ISO 9001:2015. Thermocouples are calibrated to AMS 2750, the pyrometry specification aerospace heat treaters are audited against. This table will change as approvals are earned, not before.
