NPD · Development trials for new parts

Before a new part goes into production, we run it as a trial charge and wait for your approval.

How a trial runs

Four steps from drawing to approved cycle.

  1. Feasibility

We review the drawing, grade and specification, and say plainly if it can be met.

  2. Trial charge

A small charge on the proposed cycle, with the same jigging we would use in production.

  3. Validation

Samples are sectioned: surface and core hardness, case-depth traverse, microstructure.

  4. Your approval

Production starts only when you sign off. The approved cycle becomes the part’s record.

What you get

A cycle you have already seen work.

  • Trial report with the cycle run, readings and microstructure images.
  • A process specification for the part, used for every production lot.
  • Documents set up for production: process flow, PFMEA, control plan and jigging instruction.

Trial pricing and lead time are quoted per part.

Questions

Asked about development trials.

How many parts do you need for a trial?

Enough for the charge and destructive testing. We will say how many when we review the drawing.

Can you support a PPAP or first-article submission?

We supply the heat-treatment documents your submission needs. The exact document set is agreed per customer.
